WSET Courses

We're delighted to now be offering WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) courses at Crystal Palace Wine Club. Starting from June 2024, we are teaming with Cornwall's Wild Wine School to offer both WSET Level 1 and Level 2 training, plus "an introduction to wild wines".

These courses are widely seen as the standard for UK wine education and are a fantastic option for both the casual wine enjoyer and industry professionals. Hosting will be Wine Club friend Mike Knowlden from Perennial Wine. Read the course descriptions below and visit the Wild Wine School website by clicking here to learn more.

WSET Level 1 Award in Wine- Learn how to tell a shiraz from a merlot and a Chablis from a Sancerre with this one day beginner level introduction to wine. Together we’ll use our senses to explore the main types and styles of wine, and if the weather permits, we’ll step outside to learn in the open air.

WSET Level 2 Award in Wine- From how to recognise a riesling to food pairing a pinot, expand your wine knowledge with this four day beginner to intermediate course. Suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts, by the end of the course, you’ll have gained an in-depth knowledge of the international and locally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce.

An Introduction to Wild Wine- Wild Wine School’s signature course exploring sustainability in wine; from organic and biodynamic viticulture to shipping wine by sail, this course is for anyone with an interest in reducing the negative impact of the wine industry. We recommend having a basic level of wine knowledge (WSET Level 1 or equivalent), but it'll be interesting and fun for the seasoned expert too!
