Ballad Old Vine Garnacha, Ignacio Marin, 2019 13.5%

This is Garnacha (also known as Grenache) in its best form, in my humble opinion. Sometimes a flabby, overly alcoholic variety, the fact this is made from old vines gives it concentration without relying on heavy extraction. Fruity and floral and with depth, smoothed by 12 months in oak, this is one of the best value wines on our list. 

Food pairing: Red meats, game, and cheese. A classic red when it comes to pairing.
