Current job vacancy: Crystal Palace Wine Club, Trade Sales Rep (one day per week initially)

The company

  • Crystal Palace Wine Club is a start-up wine brand based in South London running a wine and cheese bar (with a second on the way in 2024), the annual South London Wine Fair, regular events and private wine tastings, an online wine delivery service, a local wine subscription, an import company and a growing wholesale operation around London and beyond.

The job

  • As the importing side of our business begins to grow, we are seeking a Trade Sales Rep to help us take that side of the company to the next level.
  • Reporting to the Owner, you will be tasked with building the wholesale component of our business into its next iteration by identifying new clients and securing sales.
  • Starting in London, you will increase our base of regular clients, eventually looking further afield.
  • You will attend tastings and wine fairs, representing the brand in a wholesale capacity.
  • You will assist with the management of our existing clients, fulfilling orders when needed.
  • Initially you will be paid a £200 day rate for one day per week, pro-rata, plus uncapped potential commission earnings. 
  • As the role grows more hours may be required and we will increase the contract to fit the job as appropriate, with the potential for a full time position further down the line. 

The person

  • You will have existing knowledge of the London wine scene, including knowing wine buyers and sommeliers at a variety of restaurants, shops and more.
  • A contacts book that allows you to book a meeting with a potential buyer.
  • Excellent wine knowledge and acumen, the ability to learn our current portfolio inside out, and to make appropriate recommendations and sales pitches to clients.
  • A people person with the ability to make sales, without coming across as a “sales person”.
  • A self-starter who is able to steer their own ship while delivering tangible results.
  • A hard-worker who is willing to go the extra mile to help us build this business.
  • WSET Level 3 preferable.
  • Driving license preferable.
