Aranleon Solo Brut DOP Cava NV, Spain, 11.5%

Description

This comes from Wine Club favourite Montesanco, whose excellent wines we discovered two years ago and are now importing into the UK. The area Utiel-Requena is most famous for Cava, and this is a classic easy-drinking fizz, perfect for a summer day. The wine is aged on its lees for 11 months to add texture and complexity. “Non-vintage” means the wine is blended from a series of different years to create balance and consistently and is quite common with sparkling wines, including Champange. Organic and certified biodynamic.

Aromas & flavours

The wine has fine bubbles and a persistent foam, making it satisfying without being overly fizzy. Lots of pear and apples on the nose, with a touch of lime and white flowers. The acidity is high enough to keep it refreshing, and the wine has an impressively long aftertaste. Look out for a touch of sweetness on the finish.

Food pairing

Lovely on its own, perfect for a garden party or the early stages of a BBQ, with the relatively low alcohol meaning you’ll still be able to operate the grill. Would also work well with a piece of pork or spicy dishes.
