V de Gredos, Escalera 2019, 15%

A beautifully balanced take on Garnacha from Gredos, west of Madrid. Big bright red fruit and bags of freshness on the palate counterbalance the big alcohol - a very impressively made wine. The grapes being grown at altitude, and the vines being 60+ years old, are key here. Aged in two year old used French oak for nine months with its fine lees and bottled without filtering. 

Pairing: perfect with lighter meats, duck or venison.
